Fascinating Friday's

So, I'm all about blog series lately.  I am going to start a new series where I share with my blog friends one thing that I learned this week about the bible.  I am hoping this will be a fun way to keep myself accountable and to document the cool things that God is showing me.  And maybe, just maybe, some of you might be inspired also to dig a little deeper into God's gift of scripture!  Enjoy!

I didn't learn this this week, but I have been reflecting on it.

Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
Deuteronomy 6: 6-9 The Message
This is one of my favorite passages that speaks to me about parenting.  It's so practical and rich.  I'm learning about Paul right now, and he would have been one of the Jewish boys who took this scripture very literally.  They had actual bands they would wrap around their arms, and on their foreheads, and they had scripture written on their doorposts.  I don't know all the specifisc, but the point is that they had several literal reminders for themselves to aknowledge and pronounce the Lord's role in their lives.

For me,  over the last few years, I too, have tried to have literal reminders around my house that remind me to acknowledge and seek the Lord's direction in my life.  I just love it.  I dream of having scripture written all through my house in significant places that serve as physical reminders to put God's word deep in my heart and in the hearts of my children!
