Letter To Engaged To Be Married Mindy

Dear Engaged To Be Married Mindy,

You're getting married!!!  Yay!  And all this time, you thought God had forgotten about your hearts desire.  No way.  He has big plans for you!  I have one word of advice for a good marraige...ready??  Here it is...make love to your spouse frequently.

The End.

Ha, I couldn't resist!  If you let Jason read the above, he will love me for telling you that!

For real though, you were starting to think God had other plans for you!  You thought you'd be single forever.  No way, your hearts desire was His and now you are getting the greatest gift of your life.  I'm so happy for you and I love watching you as you float on cloud nine.  Enjoy this season of unbridled romance and passion, you're going to look back on it one day and it just might be what gets you through some hard times! It might be the flame that re-sparks your romance when you are knee deep in poopy diapers and you have baby snot wiped all over your clothes. Remembering how you fell in love is powerful.

I love how God has made this man for you and it is so amazing to see the ways he has been working on each of you individually.  Never forget all these details of the ways God showed himself to you both and how you both knew so quickly, without any hesitation that this one was in fact the one you were to marry.  Praise God for those who have encouraged you and cheered you on as you enter this season.

Just a friendly reminder, in case you don't already know...you're husband is not going to take the place of God in your life.  Don't set such high expectations on him, but instead, focus on being a blessing to him. Look for ways to serve him and look for ways to show him how much you love him.  Tell him how you think he hangs the moon, don't expect him to already know that.  Tell him how handsome you think he is and believe him when he tells you that you are beautiful.  He really thinks you are.  (I know it's hard to believe, just do it though. Just say thank you.)

I'm so excited for you both and can't wait to see all the things He has before you guys.  You will soon be one.  It's a mysterious, beautiful thing. Nothing in your life will ever be the same, you get to filter things through the lens of your marriage.  Get ready to learn new ways to sacrifice and be beyond blessed for doing so.  Oh, if you'd rather self-indulge and live your life without sacrificing for him, don't do it.  If you'd rather hide all the ugly parts of yourself and keep arms distance from true love, don't do it.  Just sayin.

Buckle up Mindy, your life is just beginning!

Until Next Time,
The Seven Years Married and Three Kids Later Mindy
